Here at Mi Woollies we have several major product areas, all of which require constant design input.
Our main ranges are:
- Sheepskin rugs and designer sheepskin rugs.
- Sheepskin slippers and boots.
- Sheepskin lined and wool lined slippers and boots.
- Sheepskin and woollen bed topper pads or underlays.
- Wool comforters or duvets.
- Medical sheepskin and wool products.
- Sheepskin and wool car seat covers, seat belt protectors and other automotive products.
- Chamois products particularly for motor vehicle use.
- Sheepskin and wool toys and novelty items.
- A range of wet proof bed and linen protection products aimed specifically for those with medical and / or incontinence difficulties.
In so far as the design input for these products is concerned most of the design is carried out in house. We have developed a range of sheepskin products for fashion designer Karen Walker in New Zealand and also have designed products specifically for the United Kingdom and the American market. We are quite prepared to undertake private label work as required.
A major part of the design work is to encapsulate and further espouse the benefits of sheepskin and wool, which are still not well understood by the consumer. The benefits of wool in bedding are still not well understood despite there being copious expert evidence as to the benefits to be achieved from sleeping with natural products. Considering we spend so much time in bed in each 24 hour cycle, we consider that in order to live a more healthy and productive life, it is essential for an individual to ensure that they use the very best of bedding products available on the market and at the top of the list we believe the use of wool is essential.
It can hardly be said that the Ugg boot or wool slippers or sheepskin slippers are the absolute haute couture of the fashion world, however from time to time they do make headlines as an iconic item of personal wear and in 2003 / 2004 we saw a resurgence of the Ugg boot and all sheepskin footwear and a substantial amount of wool or look-alike sheepskin clothing being worn. We are able to manufacture all of these types of products, as the market requires. Specific design requirements can be investigated and undertaken by our extensive design department.
Also located within Christchurch is one of the foremost institutions for the study of sheepskin and wool being WRONZ, which is the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand, at Lincoln University, 5 minutes from Christchurch. We use them to assist in maximising the benefits of wool in all our product design. |
