About Masterweave Textiles and Mohair
Masterweave Textiles, New Zealand's premier Mohair weaver, is renowned for its consistently high quality Mohair and Alpaca products, including decorative throws, knee wraps and scarves.
Masterweave have over thirty years of experience with Mohair, and purchased a small weaving facility in 1989, following many years of farming. Masterweave use a centuries old brushing technique for knitwear using the dried teasels from the thistle plant. Masterweave have devised a process and developed a machine utilising the thistles. This proprietary process is Masterweave's secret to whipping up a luxurious light downy finish to their brushed Mohair products.
Mohair is made from the hair of the Angora goat. Both durable and resilient, mohair is notable for its high luster and sheen, which has helped give it the nickname the "Diamond Fiber", and is often used in fiber blends to add these qualities to a textile. Mohair takes dye exceptionally well. Mohair is warm in winter as it has great insulating properties, while remaining cool in summer due to its moisture wicking properties. It is durable, naturally elastic, flame resistant, crease resistant, and does not felt. It is considered to be a luxury fiber, like cashmere, angora and silk.

The present was just what a beautiful forty year old lady wanted. Snuggles into it every night.
We LOVE LOVE this blanket! Shortly after ordering our first one, two more followed. Honestly, I would order a dozen more- perhaps in time, or if on offer, I actually will own a dozen!
So soft with such a lovely feel. Colour looks just as good as the throw feels - luxurious. Great company to deal with.
So light and instantly warm. You won’t be disappointed.
Love the product. love the colour. will look at getting more in the future.
I sent this throw from New Zealand to Wales after falling in love with it. I still love it now I’m back in Wales. The feel is so gorgeous, the colour is rich and enveloping.
I bought a Windermere Throw, colour Glacier, to take with me to give to my friends in Germany. I am delighted with it, the colour reminiscent of a South Island snow melt and of Frans Joseph Glacier. I am looking forward to their delight when finally, I give it to them, at the end of my stay in May.
After a weekend away I came home to find the throw under the bed, The Kitten had been busy and had dragged it off the bed and hidden it under
a lovely thick boufy blanky! I am very happy with my buy.
I love the new mohair throw, it's colour brightens the neutrals in our room and the warmth without weight is lovely. One issue though.... You want to stay cuddled in under the throw rath than get up on cold mornings.
This blanket is so warm & light exactly as advertised. Excellent quality I just love it.
