About Possum Merino
Once you’ve tried it you will be converted as nothing else will feel as warm and soft. Possum Merino is a wonderful blend of possum fur and superfine micron New Zealand Merino wool. It is luxuriously soft, incredibly lightweight, exceptionally warm and comfortable to wear. It will not wrinkle or pill and it is anti static.
The possum fur fibre is incredibly insulating due to it's hollow nature and provides exceptional thermal warmth without weight. Research has shown that it is 55% warmer than Merino and 35% warmer than cashmere.
Superfine micron New Zealand Merino wool is renowned for its softness, all-seasons breathability and easy care durability. It will not irritate your skin like coarser wool can and it combines beautifully with possum fur to create garments of exceptional warmth and quality that are incredibly good value.
Please follow those on care label attached to the garment. Warm hand wash with a gentle detergent. Warm rinse well. Lay flat to dry in the shade. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Drycleanable.
Facts about the New Zealand Brushtail Possum
The New Zealand Brushtail Possum is a medium sized marsupial that was introduced into New Zealand from Australia during the mid 1800's. It is from a completely different family to that of the North American Opossum, and it's fur quality is similar to mink. With no natural predators, numbers exploded to approximately 70 million in the 1980s. Possums currently eat about 20,000 tons of native vegetation each night. In addition to this they compete directly with native birds for food and they also eat birds eggs, chicks and insects. Their insatiable appetite threatens the survival of many of our native plants, insects and birds, including our national bird the kiwi.
The Department of Conservation spends many millions of dollars each year on trapping and controversial poisoning campaigns in attempts to control the pest. In addition, the possum fur industry helps to keep the possum numbers down. Current research shows that due to twenty five years of control, possum numbers have dropped to approximately 40 million. However, with New Zealand's favourable climatic conditions possums are able to breed twice a year and numbers could rapidly increase once again.
Mi Woollies believes in a market solution to the possum problem. Efforts to reduce the millions of possums in New Zealand’s forests have been boosted by companies that market possum fur. So, by choosing to wear our luxurious Possum Wool knitwear, or one of our unique Possum fur products, you are helping to preserve the fragile and beautiful New Zealand environment.

This jacket is so light and soft and yet is very warm. I love it
Very happy with my purchase, item is light warm and cozy. I bought my first jacket whilst visiting NZ and it was the best thing I have ever done. Highly recommended.
Love this jacket, good quality light and warm. Is more jacket than cardigan. I found its best worn with jeans rather than a skirt. I am 56kg and 167cm, usually wear sz 10 so bought S. Its roomy enough to wear a couple of light layers under but warm enough not to need to (we live in the high country and I feel the cold) and fitted enough to wear comfortably under coat or jacket. I've never paid this much for any top so hoping it keeps its shape and lasts a very long time.
Absolutely brilliant. Much admired. May get another in a different colour.
I already had this sweater in turquoise and I love it so much, i had to have the pinky colored one. It fits so well and is flattering and is so soft and warm. This blend of fibers is fabulous for looks and feel and warmth. Never saw these sweaters before we were in Solvang, CA, and I am hooked!
I love this jacket! I bought my first gorgeous two-tone jacket (espresso/mocha) over 2 years ago and have worn it about 9 to 10 months of the year, including during "warm" seasons. It's the only merino/possum jacket I've had so it was always my go-to/not-leave-home-without-it jacket. It is perfect for travel, beautiful (even when I am "casual"), more classy and warmer than fleece, and has even had to bear the wear of working around the house, garden and attic. It's like putting on a heater. After 2 years of extremely intense wear, I finally wore through the elbows (and intend to get it patched). Otherwise, there are absolutely no snags, tears. It's the perfect jacket. The fantastic weave has become a bit looser. That's it. Love it, love it. I've recently ordered the shaped-zip and textured-zip which are also very nice but nothing like the two-tone for versatility and beauty. So I have to order another two-tone, even if it's not on sale.
Very glad to buy this light and warm, very good quality jacket.
Recently bought the two toned KORU possum merino jacket from you.
Very happy !!: it looks great; is soft and warm. Perfect for travelling and looks elegant. The best thing is also that I know they look still good after lots of wearing as they do not pill unlike just merino. I bought same item before,so i know.
Your price was this item was also the best on the market I could find.
